Jeffrey Bruce Hobler, 59, of 201 E. Spring St., New Knoxville, died on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on May 24, 1955, in St. Marys, the son of Richard and Margaret (LaGue) Hobler. He was preceded in death by his father.
He married Laura Cooper on Oct. 22, 1982, at St. Peter’s Church in New Bremen, and she survives at the residence.
Jeff is also survived by his mother, Margaret Hobler of St. Marys, his three children, Alexander Hobler of New Knoxville, Jonathon (Melissa Adkins) Hobler of Wapakoneta and Maggie Hobler of Minster; one granddaughter, Madalyn Hobler.
He also is survived by his brothers, Jerrold “Jay” Hobler of St. Marys and James Hobler of St. Marys. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Becky Cooper of Ponca City, Okla.
Jeff was a 1973 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. He went on to earn a bachelor of science degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1997.
He was the manager and light show man for the bands Opel and Dartanyun for many years.
He had been employed as the investigative agent by the Miami County Board of Developmental Disabilities for more than 15 years.
He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and friendly personality. Jeff was a wonderful husband, loving son and devoted father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed, far too soon.
Funeral rites will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home,1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Dr. David Williams, officiant.
Private family burial rites will be held at the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
