Jean Ackley, 78

Jean Ackley, 78, of 225 N. Chestnut St., St. Marys, a resident of the Gardens of Celina, died at 5:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at the Gardens of Celina.

She was born on Aug. 21, 1933, in St. Marys, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Moeller) Boltz, and they preceded her in death.

She married Cloyd Ackley, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1967.

She is survived by her children, Laura (Dan) Leonard of Celina, Spike (Brenda) Ackley of St. Marys, David Ackley of St. Marys, Shawn (Kerri) Ackley of St. Marys and Becky Ernst of Coldwater; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Louis Boltz of St. Marys, Mary Ann Brotherwood of St. Marys and Jane Boltz of St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Harry Boltz Jr., William Boltz, Louise McDermitt and Esther Boltz; four great-granddaughters.

Jean was a 1951 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. In addition to being a homemaker, she had worked at Wapak Products and also the St. Marys Armory.

She was an avid bingo player and loved studying history, especially military history and the history of the National Guard. She was a member of the Lord’s Church in Celina.

Funeral rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys, with the Rev. Randy Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be directed to Mercer County Hospice. Condolences may be sent to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
