Janet E. Thompson-Steen, 75

Janet E. Thompson-Steen, 75, of 134 LeBlond St., Celina, died at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home after a short illness.

She was born on Sept. 5, 1938, in Piqua, the daughter of William and Nellie (Davidson) Prasuhn.

She married John “Jack” Steen on April 18, 1994, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2011.

She is survived by her six daughters, Vickie (Larry) Pearce of Stilwell, Kan.; Sandra (David) Yahl of St. Marys; Betsy (Ron) Coelho of Lima; Betty (Terry) Terhark of Findlay; Donna (J.R.) Woods of Springdale, Mich.; Susan (Randy) Wicker of St. Marys.

 She is survived by her former husband, Robert Thompson of Paulding and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three stepchildren, Dennis “Gary” (Lindy) Steen of Hamilton, Steven (Ruby) Steen of Celina and Johnathan (Carlene) Steen of Coldwater, by her siblings, Wanda (Dale) Rismiller of Greenville, June (James) Strobel of Greenville and Linna Peters of Greenville, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Jack Steen, by one stepdaughter, Dorothy Kay Goins and by her siblings, Doris Finn, Phyllis Von Nagy and Dale Prashun.

Janet was a 1953 graduate of Greenville High School. She was employed as a pharmacy technician for many years at Rite-Aid Pharmacy in St. Marys and CVS Pharmacy in Celina. She enjoyed going boating on Grand Lake St. Marys, playing cards, dancing and collecting butterfly and owl figurines. She adored her dog, Shadow, and her cat, Cookie.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki, officiant.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Neurofibromatosis Foundation, or through NfFamilyFoundation.org.
