James Willam Champ, 67

James Willam Champ, 67, formerly of Spencerville and Lima, died at 11:36 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton, where he had resided since Oct. 22, 2012.

He was born on May 14, 1945, in Lima, a son of James Lewis and Elva Iota “Odie” Adams Champ, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by a sister; two nephews; a niece; several great-nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era from 1966 to 1970.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with his nephew, the Rev. Thomas R. Roof, officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery in Auglaize County, with military rites by the Spencerville Veterans.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
