James S. Knous Sr., 77

James S. Knous Sr., 77, of 114 Leona St., Celina, died on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at The Gardens of Celina in Celina.

Mr. Knous was born on Aug. 20, 1935, in Van Wert, the son of Clifford and Stella (Gallimorre) Knous.

On March 12, 1954, in Portland, Ind., he married Jacqueline R. Hoselton, who survives.

He also survived by two daughters, Peggy (Brad) Hull of Celina and Stacy (Kevin) Germann  of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sons, James S. (Nikki) Knous  of Celina and David (Sharon) Knous  of Celina; four sisters, Louise Long of Indiana, Inez Jacobs  of St. Marys, Julia Huff of St. Marys and Joyce Scheerer; four brothers, Simon (Myrtle) Knous  of St. Marys, Lloyd Knous  of  Decatur, Ind.; Paul Knous  of St. Marys and Charlie Knous  of St. Marys.

He  was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Donald Knous, Wesley Knous and Allen “Bud” Knous; sister, Evelyn Sorensen.

He was a 1954 graduate of Memorial High School in St. Marys.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corp, having served during the Korean War.

He retired from Avco New Idea in Coldwater, where he was employed as a pipe fitter.

He was a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God.

He enjoyed  fishing, riding motorcycles, and was very proud of his family.

Funeral rites for Mr. Knous will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Mt. Tabor Church building fund of Haiti Missions fund.
