James M. Doorley, 93

James M. Doorley, 93, of Wapakoneta, died at 3:15 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta, where he had resided for the past year.  

He was born April 20, 1920, in Auglaize County, the son of Michael and Anna (Brands) Doorley, who preceded him in death.

On April 14, 1948, he married Alberta R. “Betty” Fisher, and she survives.   Other survivors include four children, Linda (Dave) Settlemire, Lima; Mary Ellen (Virgil) Brown, Moulton; Karen Nagel and Ned Ruck, Wapakoneta; Thomas Doorley, Wapakoneta;    10 grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Early, Amy (Travis) Parker, Daniel Settlemire, Sara Settlemire (fiancée Ben Estes,) Jessica Brown, Holly Brown (fiancée Alex Martinez,)Matt (Heather) Nagel, Kelli (Joe) White,    Becky (Bryan) McClain, and Mike (Shelly) Nagel; 11 great- grandchildren;    four sisters, Maxine Horman, Wapakoneta; Irene (Paul) Freytag, Minster; Alice Kohler, Rogers, Alaska; JoAnn Eberle, St. Marys; he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Nagel, and three brothers-in-law, Ed Horman, Don Kohler and Ed Eberle.

Jim was a lifelong farmer.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta.  

His other memberships included the K of C., Council #1272, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #691, both of Wapakoneta, the former Holy Name Society, and the Auglaize County Farm Bureau.  He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique horse drawn walk behind plows, traveling, and spending time with his family telling stories.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating.  

Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Ohio 501, Wapakoneta.
