James H. “Jim” Schaub, 75

James H. “Jim” Schaub, 75, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:55 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System of complications following open heart surgery.   

He was born on Dec. 7, 1937, in rural Wapakoneta, the son of Lewis and Ella (Morris) Schaub, who preceded him in death.

On Feb. 5, 1964, he married Betty J. Carroll, and she survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Betty (Rod) Brown of Hobe Sound, Fla.; six grandchildren, Alexa (fiancé Johnny) Miller, Brittany, Jessica, Zachary, Andrea and Meagan Brown; a sister, Sue Spencer of Lima; two pet Yorkie dogs, Bella and Daisy.

He was preceded in death by two brothers John and Bill Schaub.

Jim retired from the Auglaize County Engineers Office after 40 years service with the bridge crew and as a truck driver. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Buckeye Farm Antiques and was an avid John Deere tractor collector. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and caring for his dogs.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, SR 501, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Bill Spencer, officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta VFW Post 8445.  

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
