Ivan M. Walters, 84, of Decatur, Ind., formerly of Van Wert, died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born on Dec. 28, 1927, in Van Wert, to Stanley Walters and Frieda Schaadt, and they preceded him in death.
On Nov. 7, 1948, he married Mary Bess Weyant, and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, Dean (Sandy) Walters of Key West, Fla.; a daughter, Susan (Tom) Bielamowicz of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Dale Walters of North Canton; two grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Elnora (Robert) Cisco of St. Marys and Vivan Harmon of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Walters and Ned Walters; two sisters, Jan Juanita Wells and Marcille Hill; a brother-in-law, James Weyant.
He was a past president of the Portland Chamber and a member of the Portland Elks.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, with the Rev. Robert Ellis officiating. Burial will be held in Swamp College Cemetery.
