Irwin R. “Sparky” Baumer, 88

Irwin R. “Sparky” Baumer, 88, formerly of East Fourth Street, Minster, a resident of Otterbein St. Marys, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 26, 1923, in Minster, to Bernard and Bernadine (Sextro) Baumer, and they preceded him in death.

On May 19, 1947, in Wapakoneta, he married Eileen T. Eisert, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2009.

He is survived by his children, Daniel and Catherine Baumer of Orlando, Fla., Linda Baumer of Minster and Beth and Jim Hinker of Minster; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; a sister.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II in Europe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m Thursday at St. Augustine Church in Minster, with the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.

Memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein St. Marys Life Enrichment Center.
