Iris Ann Burwell, 102

Iris Ann Burwell, 102, formerly of Wapakoneta, and a long time resident of the St. Marys Living Center, died on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at the St. Marys Living Center.

She was born on Feb. 2, 1909, in Lima, the daughter of Daniel and Lillian (Burton) Armentrout, and they preceded her in death.

On May 2, 1927, she married Guy Burwell, and he preceded her in death in October 1993.

She is survived by her two children, LaDonna (Paul) Kogge of St. Marys and Lowell Burwell of Liberty, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gerald Armentrout and Rowena Smith; one great-grandchild.

She attended Lima South High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Christian Science Church in Lima, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also was a member of the Wapakoneta Ladies’ Garden Club.

Private family burial rites will be held at Lima Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Riggs officiating.

Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, is in charge of the arrangements.
