Herbert J. Quinter, 83, formerly of St. Henry, died on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Celina Manor.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1929, in St. Henry, to Benedict and Anna (Thieman) Quinter, and they preceded him in death.

On Jan. 30, 1954, in St. Patrick, he married Margaret C. (Mertz), and she preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 1999.

Herb is survived by six children, Anna (John) Garman of Celina, Pauline (Russ) Kyburz of New Bremen, Virginia (Leo) Lefeld of St. Henry, Benedict Quinter (Laura Collins) of Maria Stein, Kathleen (Bruce) Cyphers of Celina and John (Lisa) Quinter of Versailles; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law.

He is preceded in death by a grandchild; nine siblings and spouses.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Cassella. Burial with military honors will follow in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-St. Henry.
