Hazel M. Goodwin, 89

Hazel M. Goodwin, 89, of 1103 Indiana Ave., St. Marys, died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at her son’s residence in Elida.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1921, in Montezuma, the daughter of Wilbur and Mary (Peggs) Ritchie, and they preceded her in death.

On Aug. 1, 1942, she married Forrest “Red” Goodwin, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2003.

She is survived by a son, Jerry (Mary) Goodwin of Elida; a daughter, Kelli Burch of St. Marys; eight grandchildren, Steve, Stacey, Nicole, Lindsay, Erika, Katie, Kim and Ted; nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Forrest Goodwin, Jr., who died in infancy; a brother, Ralph Ritchie; a sister, Wanda Peggs.

Hazel was a graduate of Celina High School. She retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St. Marys. She was a member of the First Church of God in St. Marys. She was a talented seamstress who made many of her own clothes and enjoyed flower gardening. She will be remembered as a very loving and caring mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, with the Rev. Charles Richtmyer officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Condolences may be sent to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
