Harold W. (Hal) Huwer, 84, of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Kettering Medical Center.

He was born in St. Marys.

He married Evelyn, and she preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son, Michael; a daughter, Lisa; a grandson, Christian Huwer, who is serving his country in Afaganistan as an airman in the Air Force; a daughter-in-law, Courtney Huwer, of Barksdale Air Force Base; two great-grandsons, Landon and Mason, of Barksdale Air Force Base.  

He retired from Lewis and Michael, Inc. in 1989, after 20 years as a salesman. Hal was raised in St. Marys and graduated from Memorial High School in 1945, where he was active in high school sports. He graduated from Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1950 and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer.

He served in the Air Force in World War II.

He was employed part-time at Sycamore Country Club and John Smith’s Brown Derby Restaurant as a Maitre’d.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at David’s Cemetery, 4600 Mad River Road., Kettering. Arrangements are in the care of Tobias Funeral Home-Far Hills Chapel.
