Harold R. Siler, 78

July 29, 2011

Harold R. (Ray) Siler, 78, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at his home in Greenfield, Mo.

He was born on June 30, 1933, in Mendon, and lived as a child there and in Indian River, Mich., where he graduated from Onaway High School in 1951.

Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Panama in 1953. He worked for 35 years at the Ford Motor plant in Lima as a skilled tradesman. Ray fixed the machines that kept the line rolling until his retirement in 1991.

During his life, Ray was an avid outdoorsman — hunter, fisherman and expert archer. He was also an outstanding woodworker and carver, and his loving family will treasure those special gifts from his imagination and own hands.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce, of the home; his children, Deborah Feltz of Pennsylvania, Cathy Pollock of Missouri, Steve Siler of Virginia, Chris Siler of Michigan, Connie DeVaan of Minnesota, Kim Lokos of California and Roger Siler of Arkansas; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Siler of Kentucky, Tom Siler of Michigan and Ted Siler of Michigan.

A private memorial service will be held for the family. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Oxford Hospice, 1550 East Sunshine St., Springfield, Mo. 65804.
