Harold A. Engel, 82, of Wapakoneta, died at 11:20 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born on Feb. 4, 1930, the son of Adrian and Pearl (Elmers) Engel, and they preceded him in death.
On Aug. 15, 1959, he married Wanda Krites, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 1980.
He is survived by two daughters, Lois Engel and Lynn Koch of Wapakoneta and Kay Penrose of Wapakoneta; five siblings, Marie (John) Heintz of Jackson Center, Dorothy (Richard) Krites and Evelyn Wagner, both of St. Marys, Robert (Shirley Ann) Engel of Wapakoneta and Carolyn (Donald) Henschen of St. Marys; his former wife, Shirley C. Engel of Lima.
He was preceded in death by sister and two brothers-in-law, Ruth (Art) Lange and Elmer Wagner.
A farmer, Harold owned and operated the Harold Engel Lime Spreading Service. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moulton, where he was a former Sunday school teacher. He served as Moulton Township clerk and zoning inspector for 28 years. He was a member of the Ohio Township Association.
A U.S. Army veteran, Harold served in Okinawa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moulton, with the Rev. Joy Miller officiating. Burial is to follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Ohio 501, Wapakoneta, and one hour before the service Friday at the church.
