Harold “Pete” Quickle, 89

Harold “Pete” Quickle, 89, of 417 N. Pine St., St. Marys, died at 7:22 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Aug.1, 1924, in Hillsboro, the son of Dana and Florence (Frazier) Quickle.

He married Lillian Storer on Aug. 9, 1947, and she survives at the residence.

He is also survived by his four daughters, Diana Hirschfeld of St. Marys, Kathy (Doug) Duncan of St. Marys, Barbara Eshleman of St. Marys and Rebecca (Greg) Adams of St. Marys.

He is survived by 10 grandchildren, Heather Schwendeman, Tiffany Davis, Amanda Young, Aaron Adams, Shawna King, Tyler Hirschfeld, Megan Duncan, Dustin Adams, Brandon Eshleman and Zachary Duncan. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren. His brother, Richard Quickle, survives in Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings, Edgar Quickle, Roger Quickle, Virginia Main and Violet Baker.

Pete was a 1943 graduate of Marshall High School. He had worked at the former Weston Paper Mill in St. Marys, and retired from New Knoxville School, where he served as a custodian. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in St. Marys.

He enjoyed going fishing and coon hunting. He raised champion coondogs and also had a mower repair business.

Funeral rites will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Jon Kraner, officiant.

Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Grace United Methodist Church.
