GOLF: Schmitmeyer finishes tied for 74th at USGA's Public Links Championship

MIDWAY, Utah — Michael Schmitmeyer shot a four-over par in the second round of the United States Golf Association’s Public Links Championship on Tuesday at Soldier Hollow Golf Course.

Schmitmeyer, a St. Marys Memorial and University of Findlay grad, finished tied for 77th. His six-over part two-day total was two shots off the pace needed to qualify for the match play portion of the event.

Schmitmeyer made birdies on the third and fifth holes on the front nine and shot a two-over 38. Schmitmeyer shot a two-over par 37 on the back with two bogeys and seven pars.
