GOLF ROUND-UP: Area teams earn wins on the links
NEW BREMEN 161, PARKWAY 162
New Bremen pushed its record to 4-0 on the season in Midwest Athletic Conference play after narrowly defeating Parkway 161-162 at Deerfield on Monday afternoon. New Bremen overcame Parkway’s Jordan Bollenbacher’s medalist 35 and Brian Shatzer’s 38 with its depth. New Bremen’s Darin Bergman fired a 37 and Alex Britton and Travis Bertelsen each shot 40s. Tyler Hagen and Alex Feltz both had 44s.
MINSTER 165, MARION LOCAL 188
MINSTER — Minster had six players shoot 44 or better in a MAC win over the Flyers on Monday. Xavier Francis was medalist for Minster with a two-over par 38. Freddie Purdy shot a 41. Josh Tumbusch, John Burke and Austin Brackman each carded a 43. Matt Trushaw added a 44. Derek Platfoot led Marion Local with a 42.
VAN WERT 163, ST. MARYS 193
VAN WERT — Van Wert’s Brandon Hernandez’s 37 led the Cougars to a WBL win over the St. Marys boys golf team at Willow Bend on Monday. Carter Bowman’s 39 led the Roughriders. Colin Burke shot a 43, Kyle Kiefer added a 54 and Matt Severt shot a 56 for St. Marys.
FT. RECOVERY 183, NEW KNOXVILLE 189
MINSTER — The Fort Recovery boys golf team edged New Knoxville, 183-189, at Arrowhead Golf Club on Monday night. Fort Recovery’s Elijah Kahlig earned medalist honors with a three-over par 39. Tyler Shreve led New Knoxville with a 46. Jake Allen and Connor Samuel each shot 49s. Fort Recovery’s Chase Bruns had a 47, Kent Retz shot a 48 and Stewy Aleg had a 49. New Knoxville is now 3-2 on the season and is 2-2 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

MINSTER — Mackenzie Howell shot a 50 to lead the New Bremen girls golf team (2-3, 2-1 MAC) to a win over Parkway at Arrowhead on Monday. New Bremen’s Rachel Parker shot a 52, Sydney Holdren had a 56 and Amy Schmitmeyer shot a 63 for the 212 team score.
