HAMILTON — Spencer Rohr gave the Grand Lake offense a boost in his third game with the team and Preston Zachrich continued his solid summer on the mound as the Mariners downed the Hamilton Joes 7-1 on Friday night at Foundation Field.
Rohr, a New Bremen graduate and University of Dayton outfielder, delivered a pair of RBI hits and was 2 for 5 with a run scored. Rohr singled in a run in the first inning and added an RBI double in the eighth inning.
Zachrich, a southpaw who pitches for the Findlay Oilers in the spring, struck out seven and gave up one run over seven innings. Zachrich (2-2) has given up two or fewer runs in four of his five outings this season. He lowered his season earned run average to 3.03.
Grand Lake climbed out of the cellar of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League standings at 7-15, a game in front of the Dayton Docs.
The Mariners host Xenia tonight at 7 p.m. at Jim Hoess Field in Celina. The Mariners are scheduled to send Travis Reboulet (1-1, 8.20 ERA) to the hill.View more articles in:
