Girls Tennis: St. Marys beats Piqua, 5-0, on new courts

ST. MARYS — The St. Marys girls tennis team opened a new era in its first match at the new blue and green tennis courts near Memorial High  School with a 5-0 over Piqua on Thursday morning.

"It was really nice playing on the new courts," St. Marys head coach Brice Brenneman said. "It makes a big difference having the six courts. The match moved along nicely."

St. Marys Katie Peterson won first singles, 6-1, 6-1. Emily Brown won second singles, 6-3, 6-1. Anna Ernst won third singles, 1-6, 6-1, 7-5. Ariel and Priscilla Dodson won first doubles, 6-1, 6-2. Halie McGee and Abby Wilker won second doubles, 6-2, 6-0.

"I thought at most positions we really took a stride forward today," Brenneman said.

St. Marys (2-0) hosts a tough Greenville squad on Friday at 10 a.m.
