Girls Tennis: Greenville hands Riders first loss

ST. MARYS — Greenville downed the St. Marys girls tennis team 5-0 on Friday morning.

"I told the girls that top to bottom this is probably the best team we'd face this year," St. Marys head coach Brice Brenneman said. "I knew they were good, but they were even a little better than I thought."

Greenville's Sophia Navas-Davis defeated St. Marys' Katie Peterson, 6-2, 6-0 at first singles.

Michelle Borgerding beat St. Marys' Emily Brown at second singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Rochelle Navas-Davis defeated Alaina Lewis at third singles, 6-0, 6-0.

The St. Marys doubles team of seniors Pricilla and Ariel Dodson fell 6-7, 6-4, 2-6.

Alex Meyer and Madison Bixler defeated Halie McGee and Abby Wilker of St. Marys, 6-2, 6-1.

St. Marys is 2-1 on the season. The Riders play in the Schroeder Invitational on Saturday.
