As expected in a game between these two teams, defense was the key.
“We didn’t shoot well tonight,” Minster head coach Nann Stechschulte said. “We went on a run in the third quarter to take a lead, but then we turned the ball over too much. When Kayla Richard picked up her second foul in the second quarter hurt us when I had to sit her.”
“I thought we could have done better offensively,” New Knoxville head coach Tim Hegemier said. “But you have to give the credit to Minster. They played good defense and kept Haley Horstman in check and we missed too many easy shots.”
Bridget Geiger led all scorers with 19 points and she had seven rebounds. Kayla Richard had 10 points for Minster.
New Knoxville was led by Haley Horstman with 16 points and five rebounds and Meg Reineke had 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Wildcats (3-1, 0-1) will travel to Troy Christian on Saturday with the JV game starting at 11:30 a.m. and the varsity game will begin at 1 p.m. New Knoxville (3-1, 1-0) will entertain the Upper Scioto Valley Rams next Tuesday with the varsity game beginning at 7 p.m.
