WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta girls head basketball coach Rusty Allen looked at the match-up heading into Saturday’s game against a red-hot Minster team and liked what he saw.
“Zone-wise I knew our matchup could give them fits,” Allen said.
Wapakoneta made 13 of 19 free throws in the fourth quarter and clamped down on Minster defensively to secure a 45-39 victory, snapping the Wildcats’ 10-game winning streak.
“We just couldn’t make any shots down the stretch,” Minster head coach Nann Stechschulte said.
Wapakoneta had three players in double figures. Annie Henderson and Courtney Knippen each 12 points and Nicole Brown had 10 points. Knippen also had nine rebounds.
Minster (12-3) gets back into MAC action when they host Versailles on Thursday, while Wapakoneta (9-6) host St. Marys in a WBL contest on Thursday.
