ST. MARYS — The St. Henry Redskins girls basketball team put the pressure on right from the opening tip and the St. Marys Roughriders couldn’t get any offensive consistency the whole night and were defeated by the Redskins 72-35 Thursday night at the Murotech Gymnasium.
“I thought our pressure was very good tonight,” Redskins head coach Jeff Roessner said. “We used pressure both full court and half court and I thought our man defense was very good in the quarter court.”
Ashleigh Falk led the Riders with 11 points.
Four players scored in double figures for St. Henry, led by Stacy Lange with 13 points.
“Anytime anybody puts a little pressure on we seem to panic just a little bit,” Riders head coach Kelly Fulmer said. “I thought tonight we didn’t handle the ball especially well and we didn’t come out in our “A” game. We dug ourselves a little bit of a hole and we had a hard time getting out.”
“The big thing is when you run a press you have to have the opportunity to get into a it,” Fulmer said. “We didn’t get into that as often as we would have liked. So our press wasn’t as successful today.”
The Redskins (3-4) get back into MAC action when they host Marion Local next Thursday, while the Riders (2-6) entertain Elida next Thursday in a WBL contest.
