Geraldine C Leohner, 97

Geraldine C Leohner, 97, died on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Wesley Glen Retirement Community, where she had lived for the past six years.

She was born on Wednesday, June 24, 1914, in Rockbridge, the third daughter of William and Blanche (Starner) Primmer, and they preceded her in death. 

On Sept. 26, 1936, she married Robert Grant Leohner, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1977, after 40 years of marriage. 

She is survived by her sister, Rhea McKown of Palm Harbor, Fla.; a son-in-law, David Woodyard; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Pete) Radulski; her two favorite great-grandsons, Cohl and Mason Radulski.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Leohner Woodyard; two sisters, Ruth Tucker and Helen Beougher; her grandson, Toby Woodyard. 

Geri grew up attending the Rockbridge Advent Christian Church, after her marriage she was part of the Beulah EUB church in Baltimore. When they moved to Columbus they joined the Minerva Park United Methodist Church, and when she moved to Wesley Glen she became a member of the Maize Manor United Methodist. During her many years in the church she worked with children, lead music, directed choirs, taught classes and played the piano to the glory of God.

A special thanks to the caring sixth floor staff at Wesley Glen, the HomeReach Hospice team and her very faithful friend, Patty Fry.

A celebration of Geri’s life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Maize Manor United Methodist, 3901 Maize Road, Columbus, with the Rev. Gloria Brooks officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 351 Coonpath Road Northeast Lancaster.

A visitation service will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Maize Manor Church, to the Wesley Glen Retirement Community or HomeReach Hospice. Condolences may be sent to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
