NEW BREMEN — The New Bremen Cardinals made strides toward a possible win Friday night, but four lost fumbles cost the Cardinals against Fort Loramie.

Ft. Loramie cashed in on every one and defeated the Cardinals 34-21 in the first home game of the season at New Bremen.

“Our goal this week was the Cardinal 60,” New Bremen head coach Jason McGaharan said. “We wanted to have 60 plays with runs and passing combined. We felt if we did that we could dominate the time of possession and keep the ball out of his hands. I thought we moved the ball well offensively but we five turnovers and you can’t do that against a good team like Ft. Loramie.”

Fort Loramie running back Delaunte Thornton burned the Cardinals for 19 rushes for 187 yards and four touchdowns for the Redskins.

“It was similar to last week’s game,” McGaharan said. “They just had a really good running back and he was a concern for us.”
