Friday Area Golf Round-Up

New Bremen's Mackenzie Howell shot a 41 during the Cardinals' match against Russia on Friday.

CELINA — A trio of area girls golf teams finished in the top five at the 13-team Celina Invitational on Friday. Wapakoneta finished third  with a 388 score, led by the sixth-best score of the day with Shelby Kohler’s round of 88. Zoe Rayburn shot a 96, Sierra Sammons had a 99 and Emily Klopenstein shot a 105. Celina took fourth with a 390 team score. Kelly Stahl shot a 92. Johna Walls added a 93, Megan Stetler shot a 104, Camille Smith had a 101 and Kailee Ross shot a 107. Minster finished sixth. Claire Fischer led the way with an 89. Marissa Conrad shot a 94. Abby Hausfeld had a 112,  and Huwer shot a 126. Versailles won with a team score of 358.


RUSSIA 203, NEW BREMEN 207
Russia edged the the New Bremen girls golf team 203-207 in a match on Friday. New Bremen’s Mackenzie Howell shot a 41 to lead the Cardinals.

VERSAILLES — The New Bremen boys varsity golf team teed off its season at Stillwater Valley Golf Course on Friday against the Russia Raiders. Russia used the medalist-winning 37 from Austin Tebbe to earn a 159-176 win over the Cardinals.

Alex Britton led the way for New Bremen with a 40. Zach Hegemier shot a 43. Travis Bertelsen fired a 45, and Jacob O’Neil shot a 48 to round out the Cardinals’ 176 score. Markus Sachtler and Max Travis each shot 52 for New Bremen.

BOTKINS 170, MINSTER 177, FORT LORAMIE 186

MINSTER — Botkins earned the tri-meet win behind Seth Hanna’s 38. Brad Goettemoeller led Fort Loramie with a 44.
