Frances I. Reeder, 101
Frances I. Reeder, 101, of Spencerville, died at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at her residence with her children at her side.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1912, in Jennings Township, Van Wert County, a daughter of George Washington and Rosa Jane Reynolds Miller, who are deceased.
On Jan. 29, 1931, she married Lester J. Reeder, who died on April 13, 2010, at the age of 103. They lived in their own home for 79 years.
Surviving are three children, Lois E. McDermitt of St. Marys; Larry L. (Vicki) Reeder of Lima and Judy J. (Jim) Rex of Spencerville; nine grandchildren, Denise (Tom) Wissman of Longmont, Colo.; Nicholas (Michele) McDermott of Morocco, Ind.; Cynthia Reeder of Nyack, N.Y.; Bradley (Marnie) Reeder of China; Pamela Reeder of Saudi Arabia; Dale (Sharon) Rex of Spencerville; Janelle Golliher of Lima; Janeen Rex of Lima and John (Kelley) Rex of Bloomfield, Mich.; 12 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert E. McDermitt, a grandson, Dennis McDermitt, a grandson-in-law, Chuck Golliher, and six siblings, Lloyd Miller, Lois Stose, Walter Miller, Theodore Miller, Ned Miller and Dorothy Carrigan.
She was a 1930 graduate of Spencerville High School and had worked at the Lima Ordnance Depot during World War II, and then 11 years at the Nameplate and Monogram Company in Spencerville. She was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Spencerville, past president of the United Methodist Women and its adult Sunday School class. She is a Past Worthy Matron of the Spencerville Chapter 130, Order of Eastern Star, a member for over 60 years of the Aunt Emma’s Club and the pinochle club.
She loved cooking, sewing and taking care of relatives.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Thomas E. Beyliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, the Rev. John G. Medaugh and the Rev. Justin M. Fuhrman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct services at 7 p.m.
