Frances Catherine Wagner, 92

Frances Catherine Wagner, 92, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1919, in Fort Loramie, the daughter of Anthony B. and Josephine (DeBrosse) Barhorst, and they preceded him in death.

On Feb. 14, 1942, she married Edwin W. Wagner, and he preceded her in death in 1998.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Tony) Wagner of Sidney and Lisa (Roger) Steinke of New Bremen; two sons, Gary (Mary) Wagner of Centerville and Dennis (Jane) Wagner of Toledo; one brother, Virgil E. Barhorst of Fort Loramie; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Irenus, Robert and Raymond Barhorst; three sisters, Ann Maltinsky, Agnes Behr and Margaret Monnin; one granddaughter, Karen Wagner.

She was a 1937 graduate of Minster High School. She was a homemaker and she loved children, to play bridge and baked good pies. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and was the Altar Rosary Society and also a eucharistic minister for the sick at the hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Hess officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Angels Tuition Assistance Program, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio, 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
