Former shoe company exec and former Indiana Mr. Basketball, to speak at Rider fundraiser

The man who signed Larry Bird and Magic Johnson to shoe contracts and a former Indiana Mr. Basketball will be featured speakers at a dinner fundraiser for the St. Marys boys basketball program.

The dinner will be held at the St. Mary’s Eagles Lodge on Thursday, Dec. 1. A social hour will start at 6 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7 p.m.

Al Harden, a Converse vice-president during the 1980s and his son Roger Harden, Indiana's 1982 Mr. Basketball and current athletic apparel company owner, will be the featured speakers.

Dan Hegemier, head coach at St. Marys, will also speak about the upcoming Roughrider season.

Tickets for the dinner are $75 apiece, or $130 per couple.  Tickets are available by calling Bob Fitzgerald, 419-305-9822 or Tom Menker, 419-953-7395.  They are also available at Albert’s Sporting Goods. Tickets are limited.
