LIMA — The final week of the season encapsulated everything that was 2012 for the St. Marys Roughriders — a soggy season lacking in offensive punch.
The St. Marys football team went an entire season winless for the first time in school history after a 13-7 loss at Shawnee on yet another rainy Friday night.

With the game played in the same muddy 40-yard part of the field all night, offense was limited to the ground.
It was all-or-nothing for Shawnee’s Wing-T offense, as the Indians used sweeps over and over again against the Rider defense. That led to big runs. The Indians scored on runs of 80 and 43 yards and had 10 rushes of 10 yards or more.
Shawnee’s Tyler Frieson rushed for 164 yards and the game-winning touchdown on 19 carries.
Casey Mulcahy started off the scoring with an 80-yard run off end to give the Indians a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter.
St. Marys tied the game going into halftime with a solid eight-play, 55-yard drive, after getting the ball at midfield with 2:43 left in the half. Fisher carried the ball four times on the drive — including converting on a key fourth and three — and Isaac Fitzgerald toted the ball four times on the scoring drive. After Fisher went the final 13 yards down the right sideline with 36 seconds left in the half, Clayton Trogdlon tacked on the tying extra point.
Shawnee scored what proved to be the game-winning touchdown with the help of a short field. After St. Marys went three-and-out midway through the third quarter, a horsecollar penalty on the punt set up the Indians at the Rider 49 yard line. Three plays later senior running back Tyler Frieson scampered 43 yards for the go-ahead score. Shawnee missed the extra point wide right and had a 13-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
St. Marys drove deep into Shawnee territory in the fourth quarter, but the Roughriders turned the ball over on downs when Fisher came up a yard short on a fourth and five run down at the Shawnee 19-yard line.
Shawnee drove the ball and seemed to be milking the clock for the win when they gave St. Marys one final chance. Shawnee lost its fourth fumble of the night, but St.Marys went four-and-out on its final offensive possession.
The Roughriders mustered just 169 yards of total offense — 140 of those coming on the ground.
Adam Brown, making his second start of the season at quarterback, went 2 for 3 passing for 29 yards. Both of his completions went to Tyler Rose.
Fisher led St. Marys in rushing with 79 yards on 30 carries.
