FOOTBALL: Minster bounces back with 34-8 win over Anna
ANNA — Minster got off to a quick start after bouncing back from their loss to Coldwater last week in their game against Midwest Athletic opponent Anna Rockets. Minster has never beat Anna and the Wildcats took a commanding halftime lead and picked up the 34-8 MAC victory.
“It was a tough two weeks for us mentally and emotionally draining,” said Minster coach Nate Moore. “I am proud of the way the kids played tonight, they should be happy with the victory.”
Minster quarterback Adam Niemeyer went 19 of 25 for 220 yards passing and Korey Schultz rushed for 144 yards for the Cats.
On fourth-and-one Schultz ran into the endzone for a 7-0 Wildcats lead early in the first quarter.
Niemeyer ran one-yard in for the touchdown at the 9:41 mark of the second quarter for the 14-0 lead.
Devon Poeppelman added three points at the 3:49 mark and Minster took a 17-0 advantage to half.
Niemeyer hit Poeppelman with a 20-yard touchdown pass for the 24-0 leaqd with 3:35 left in the third quarter.
Niemeyer’s 8-yard pass to A.J. Huelsman in the endzone was converted at the 11:11 mark of the fourth quarter for a 31-8 lead.
Poeppelman’s added to the Wildcats lead with a 22-yard field goal.
Minster improves to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the MAC while Anna falls to 3-3 on the season and 1-3 in the league. Minster travels to Parkway Friday.
