Fire Damages Mercer County Home

April 28, 2014

CELINA — A Mercer County home sustained severe damage from a fire that broke out late Sunday night.

At approximately 11:02 p.m., Mercer County Central Dispatch received a call reporting a structure fire at 8673 U.S. 33, Center Township.

The initial call was placed by a neighbor, however dispatchers were soon flooded with calls reporting the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire and the home sustained severe damage. The property is owned by Tracy Mabry Sr. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Celina Fire Department and Mendon Fire Department responded to the scene for a total for four vehicles and 16 firefighters. The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers (MCERV) provided traffic control because U.S. 33 had to be closed for a short period of time because of the fire.
