ST. MARYS — Purses of a variety of colors, shapes and sizes covered several tables in downtown St. Marys Friday morning for a sale to benefit a county organization.
The Family Life Center of Auglaize County Purse Sale opened on Friday morning and ran through 3 p.m. The sale continues from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in front on the Family Life Center of Auglaize County’s office at 150 E. Spring St., St. Marys. Purses are being sold from 50 cents to $3. Shoppers may also purchase three 50 cent purses for $1.
Family Life Center of Auglaize County Director Candice Dicke said the collection of purses for sale were donated to the organization.
“These are all donated from the community,” she said, noting they came from individuals and other organizations.
Dicke noted a few designer purses were also available.
“We had a few Vera Bradley purses and a Dolce & Gabbana purse, but those already sold,” she said, noting she still had a Ralph Lauren purse for sale as of Friday morning.
In addition to the designer purses, a variety of colors, sizes and shapes of purses can be found, including totes, clutches and handbags.
This is the second time the Family Life Center of Auglaize County has held a purse sale, the first coming during the community garage sales last year.
This year’s sale was originally scheduled to be held during SummerFest, but inclement weather forced the sale to be pushed back.
Dicke said any purses left after the sale will be donated to another area organization.
Money raised in the purse sale helps run the Family Life Center of Auglaize County, whose mission is to “be a Christ-centered care center that provides consultations, guidance, education and referral to all women, men, teens and parents who experience unplanned or crisis pregnancies,” according to the organization’s website.
“It helps with the upkeep of the center and the maintenance in the center,” Dicke said.
