Eva Bigelow–Carver, 82

Eva Bigelow–Carver, 82, formerly of 524 Locust St., St. Marys, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

She was born on July 15, 1929, in Langley, Ark., to Lon and Lenora (Cowart) Brown, and they preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Larry (Julie) Bigelow of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter, Cynthia (Greg) Snyder of St. Marys; three stepdaughters, Sherry (Bob) Barga of Celina, Mary (Todd) Shellabarger of St. Marys and Kathy (John) Sampson of St. Marys; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlene Mazzo of Rialto, Calif., and Ina (Jerry) Gilke of Fort Worth, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Bigelow; her second husband, Thomas Carver; two brothers, Rupert Brown and Jadie Brown; three sisters, Leslie Auritle, Mabel Parker and Etna Bloomstrand; a half-sister, Freddie Taylor.

She was a 1946 graduate of the Langley, Ark., High School.

She was a retired production employee for the former Mersman Corp. in Celina.

She attended Hillsdale Baptist Church and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 ladies’ auxiliary, both in St. Marys.

Her favorite pastimes included woodworking, painting, sewing, cake decorating and making birdhouses.

Rites are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and after 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
