Ethel Jean Brewer, 71

Ethel Jean Brewer, 71, of 712 W. North St.,  St. Marys, died at the Lima Memorial Hospital Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, after a brief illness. Ethel was born Feb. 26, 1941, in Sneedville, Tenn. the daughter of Norman and Grace (Cinnamon) Mullins.

Her father died shortly after Ethel was born, and she was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Reuben Standifer.

 She married Dean A. Brewer on Dec. 10, 1957, in Sneedville and on May 31, 2011, he preceded her in death.

 She is survived by two sons, David (Julia) Brewer and Jarrod (Carmen) Brewer of St. Marys; two daughters, Robin Brewer and Debbie (Dale) Ball of St. Marys.

She is also survived by her brother, Jack (Linda) Standifer, of Tazewell, Tenn.

Ethel loved her 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, her husband, Dean and her brother Bill Standifer.

 Ethel was a member of the St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church.

 Ethel attended the Tazewell Tennessee School System.

She was a devoted homemaker and a caring babysitter for many families.

She was the self proclaimed “Number one fan of Merle Haggard.”  Ethel greatly enjoyed reading and crocheting, but mostly she loved to cook. 

She was especially famous for her pies.  She will be missed by the family that she loved and all of her many friends.

 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Alva Daniel officiating.

Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, in St. Marys.

The family asks that memorials be directed to the St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church.
