Emma J. Schemmel, 73

Emma J. Schemmel, 73, of New Bremen, died on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at 4:40 p.m. at the Celina Manor, Celina.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1940, in New Bremen.  

She was the daughter of Norman and Annabel (Dickman) Scheer.  

Survivors include her children, Richard Schemmel and Brian (Jennifer) Schemmel; both of New Bremen and Teresa Moore of Frankfort, Ky.; eight grandchildren and her brother, Paul (Dorothy) Scheer of Fryburg.  

Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, Charles Scheer.

Emma was a member of the Faith Alliance Church of New Bremen.  

She was a 1958 graduate of New Bremen High School. She had formerly worked at Crown Equipment Corp. of New Bremen and Goodyear of St. Marys.

She retired from Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys after more than 20 years in the housekeeping department. Over the years, she also worked as a waitress at several different restaurants.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, the Rev. Thomas Sager officiating.  

Inurnment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.  

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the services on Saturday at the church.
