Elton “Buck” Thobe, 84

Elton “Buck” Thobe, 84, of Maria Stein, died on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Heritage Manor in Minster.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1927, in Maria Stein, to Henry and Matilda (Heitkamp) Thobe, and they preceded him in death.

On May 10, 1952, in St. Rose, he married Norma Hartings, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 1989.

He is survived by eight children, Randall (Jane) Thobe of New Bremen, Bonnie (Gary) Garrison of Maria Stein, Rick (Linda) Thobe of Maria Stein, Kay (Herbert) Westgerdes of Fort Recovery, Jan (Mary) Thobe of St. Henry, Jay (Sharon) Thobe of Maria Stein, Phil (Anne) Thobe of Maria Stein and Bruce (Karla) Thobe of Minster; a daughter-in-law; 34 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; 11 brothers and sisters; eight brothers- and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Thobe; two sons-in-law; three brothers; nine brothers- and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church in Maria Stein.

Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Maria Stein.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Coldwater. Condolences may be left at Hogenkampfh.com.
