Elody M. Hoelscher, 93

c, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of New Knoxville, died on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Sunnyside Retirement Community.

She was born on Dec. 23, 1919, near New Knoxville, to parents William L. and Matilda Bierbaum Hoelscher, who preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of New Knoxville High School and Ohio State University, where she earned a degree in accounting.

After college, she moved to New York City, where she worked as a certified public accountant for 31 years.

She retired to Sarasota at age 65. She loved to play golf, and she was very active in the Methodist Church, both in New York and in Sarasota.

She did volunteer work at the Ringling Museum and the Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Kuck and Lenora Clausing; and a brother, Myron Hoelscher.

She is survived by three nephews Larry (Judy) Clausing of Tiffin, Don Clausing of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Doug (Linda) Hoelscher of New Knoxville, and a niece, Deborah (Ron) Wood of Sheridan, Wyo.

A memorial service was held at Sunnyside Chapel in Sarasota on May 15, and a graveside burial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville, the Rev. David Williams, officiating.
