Earl W. E. Sollmann, 79, of Bradford, formerly of New Bremen, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Koester Pavilion in Troy.

Earl was born on Nov. 11, 1931, in German Township, to J. H. William and Emma (Brueggeman) Sollmann, and they preceded him in death.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia I. Sollmann; four sons, Earl W. (Monica) Sollmann of Beavercreek, Dean P. Sollmann of Troy, Mark A. Sollmann of Bradford and David R. (Kelynn) of Fairborn; one daughter, Lisa K. (Sollmann) Suerdieck of Las Vegas, Nev.; 12 grandchildren, Brent (Allison) Suerdieck of Houston, Texas, Heather (Justin) McCormick of Porcia, Italy, Dana Suerdieck of Las Vegas, Nev., Leslie, Kristen and Emily Sollmann of Beavercreek, Tiffany (Evan) Robertson of Albuquerque, N.M., Andrew (Loni) Sollmann of Fairborn, Rachel and Brian Sollmann of Xenia, Jennifer and David Sollmann Jr. of Fairborn; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Grace, Danielle, William and Grant Suerdieck, all of Las Vegas, Nev. and Bryce McCormick of Porcia, Italy; one stepgreat-grandchild, Mikaela McCormick of Porcia, Italy; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a stillborn sister, Larose Sollmann. He was a 1949 graduate of New Bremen High School. He retired after 22 years of service as a project engineer at Aerovent in Piqua. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Bradford, the Moonwalkers Good Sam Club, Piqua Eagles Aerie 614 and a former member of the Lion’s Club. Earl enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing and raising hogs, but most of all loved spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home in Bradford, with the Rev. Keith Falk officiating.

Interment will be held at the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation. Condolences may be made to the family at Stockerfraley.com.
