Drug Sting Leads To Pursuit, Arrest

September 28, 2011

WAPAKONETA — An undercover drug sting led to a chase and the arrest of a Dayton man on drug charges.

In a news release issued by Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon this morning, members of the Grand Lake Drug Task Force set up a sting at 9 p.m. Monday for the delivery of heroin to a location in Wapakoneta. Following an exchange, officers moved in to make the arrest and the suspect fled, leading law enforcement agents on a pursuit.

Some of the evidence was discarded in Wapakoneta during the pursuit. Officers chased the suspect through Wapakoneta and northeast through Auglaize County. Officers lost the suspect for a short period of time, but he was later located in Allen County, behind the Speedway at Ohio 65 and Interstate 75. The suspect was taken into custody at the business.

Arrested was Adrian M. Trone, 23, of Dayton. He remains incarcerated in the Auglaize County Jail today.

Assisting with the arrest and pursuit were the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Wapakoneta Police Department, Cridersville Police Department, Waynesfield Police Department and the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

“I hope with all of the drug arrests and all of the work from area agencies the drug problem in this area will decrease," Solomon said in a news release. "We will continue to battle the problem.”
