Dorothy Marie (Oen) Greve, 90

Dorothy Marie (Oen) Greve, 90, of Botkins, passed away at 12:23 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

Dorothy was born on Nov. 21, 1923, to Frank and Wilhelmina (Fisher) Oen on the family farm on Southland Road in Shelby County. Her parents preceded her in death.

She married Julius Greve on Aug. 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2009.

Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked at JCPenney in Wapakoneta. She also worked side-by-side with her husband on the family farm. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins and taught CCD at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine for many years. She loved Jesus, being in her garden, taking care of songbirds and her chickens, baking, Pete Rose and the Cincinnati Reds. She also loved writing and had numerous letters to the editor published. Above all, she loved her family.

She is survived by her seven children, Mary (Mark) Albers of Minster; Sue (Perry) Dailey of Orland Park, Ill.; Dolly (Roger) Wilcox of Sidney; Linus Greve of Botkins; Margie (Daniel) Haehn of Botkins; John (Marge) Greve of Delphos and Donald Greve of Botkins; three sisters, Sr. Dolorosa Oen of Dayton; Mary Oen of Wapakoneta and Kathryn Dorsten of St. Marys; six sisters-in-law, Marie Gerstner of Botkins; Odella (Ardene) Braun of Botkins; Gertrude Kondracki of Botkins; Theresa Greve of New Knoxville; Olinda Oen of Wapakoneta and Ruth Oen of Wapakoneta; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers Leonard Oen, Richard Oen, Marvin Oen, Wilbur Oen and Leo Oen and sisters Alodia Brown and Sr. Ruth Oen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins, the Rev. Daniel Hunt officiating.  

Burial is to follow in  the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Botkins.  

Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Ohio 501, Wapakoneta.   

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Petersburg Parish Churches or Botkins Local School.
