Donald L. Weimert, 82, of 808 Motz St., St. Marys, died at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born on Nov. 22, 1931, in Wapakoneta, the son of Carl and Rosella (Meyers) Weimert.
He married Janet M. Olsen on March 10, 1953, in Long Beach, Calif., and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his three children, Susan (John) Duncan of St. Marys; James (Amy) Weimert of Orlando, Fla.; and Larry Weimert of St. Marys; by seven grandchildren, Josh Weimert, Jennifer Mosher, Nan Weimert, Bryan (Katie Rupert) Weimert, Jacob Weimert, Michelle Sestile and Shannon Icenogle and by nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his siblings, Tom Weimert, Robert Weimert, Richard Weimert and Charlene Fannon, by a granddaughter, Jasmine Weimert.
Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Crown Equipment Corporation in New Bremen.
He enjoyed going camping, playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Rev. Dan Hunt officiating.
Burial, with military honors, will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either Grand Lake Hospice or to St. Rita's Dialysis.
A Christian Prayer Service will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, the Rev. Deacon Marty Brown, officiant.
