Dixie A. Wierwille, 73

Dixie A. Wierwille, 73, of New Bremen died at 7 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at her residence, ending a three-year courageous struggle with cancer.  

She was born on March 4, 1939, in Franklin to Richard and Sarah (Beam) Arbaugh, who preceded her in death.  

She married the love of her life, Robert D. Wierwille on Dec. 28, 1979, and he survives in New Bremen.  

Also surviving is her daughter, Kimberly Wint of New Bremen; three stepdaughters, Kelly (Dan) Brown of Miamisburg, Jamie (Steve) Hanna of Sunset Beach, Calif. and Janel (John) Schwartz of New Bremen; seven grandchildren, Tony Brown of Tempe, Ariz., Cody Brown of San Diego, Calif., Kelly Hanna and Zack Hanna of Sunset Beach, Calif., Caty Hanna of Fullerton, Calif., Jessica Cavanaugh of Orange, Calif. and Evan Wint of New Bremen; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Masters of Franklin, her brother, Richard Arbaugh of Byrdstown, Tenn.; and six nieces and nephews.  

Preceding her in death were her brother David Arbaugh; her sister Charlotte Neal; and a niece and a nephew.

Dixie was a graduate of Franklin High School and was employed at the Disneyland Hotel and Crown Lift Trucks in California.  Her interests included her one-of-a-kind beaded bracelets painting, gardening, stained glass, NASCAR, crossword puzzles and her two yorkies.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen.  

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating.  

A private burial will be held at the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Lake Hospice or to the church memorial fund.
