Dixie Lee Gaeke, 71

Dixie Lee Gaeke, 71, a resident of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, formerly of Troy and Tipp City, died at 12:50 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at Otterbein St. Marys, following a brief illness.

She was born on March 31, 1940, in Arcanum, and her parents preceded her in death.

She married Keith Rhoades, and he preceded her in death. On June 18, 2002, she married Joseph Gaeke, and he survives at Otterbein St. Marys.

She is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Burton of Troy and Susan (Ron) Bennett of Tipp City; four stepchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Zeller of Troy, Barbara (Sam) Booth of Xenia, Elizabeth (Scott) Hamilton of Kettering and Mary Ann (Rob) Gettell of Centerville; six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

Dixie was a 1958 graduate of Kaiser High School. She retired from Remax Realty in Troy and Tipp City, where she had been a secretary. She had formerly worked at Prudential Insurance in Troy.

She was a very active resident at Otterbein St. Marys, having made numerous video and still photography presentations for the campus. She also served on many resident committees at Otterbein St. Marys.

Funeral rites will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Meyer Community Chapel on the campus of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, State Route 364, St. Marys, the Rev. Carol Sainey officiating. Burial rites will be held Thursday in Tipp City.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at Otterbein St. Marys, where memorial donations may be directed to Otterbein. Condolences may be sent to the family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys.
