Deputies Probe Death

ST. MARYS — Investigators are currently probing a suspicious death in the village of Uniopolis.

According to a news release, deputies from the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office were dispatched at 4:30 p.m. Monday to 2 S. Main St., Uniopolis. A caller requested a welfare check on a 54-year-old, white male because he had not recently been seen by coworkers or friends.

Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon noted the death, at this time, is being labeled as suspicious. He declined to release the name of the deceased at this time, pending notification of family members.

Deputies, detectives, the Auglaize County Coroner’s Office and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification (BCI) are investigating.

The body has been transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office in Toledo for an autopsy.
