Deputies Make Arrest

May 14, 2014

CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office stopped a male subject for OVI on Tuesday night. As part of a concentrated effort to battle the heroin problem in Mercer County, Grey assigned extra patrols in an effort to combat the problem.  This is the first arrest that the “Heroin Unit” has made.

Derek C. Sutter, 22, of Celina, was arrested at 6:10 p.m. U.S. 127, near Johnston Road, following a traffic stop. Sutter was charged with failure to stop for a stop sign, driving left of center and OVI. Preliminary test show that Sutter allegedly tested positive for opiates. Assisting at the scene was Coldwater Police K-9 Unit.

Grey encouraged residents to call or email his office with drug related complaints. Messages can be left for any detective on the tip line at 567-890-8477.
