David L. Stevens, 64

David L. Stevens, 64, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, with his family by his side following a short illness.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Melanie; his parents, Glendon and Mary Stevens of Dayton; three daughters, Jammie (Mike) Troxell of Springboro, Tara Stevens of Waxhaw, N.C., and Elizabeth (Paul) Kennell of London; his grandsons, Lawrence Lloyd III, Collin, Lincoln and Hayden Troxell and Ben, Baylor and Brecken Kennell; two brothers, Glenn (Robin) Stevens of Bellbrook and Chuck (Teri) Stevens of Centerville; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts and uncles.

Originally from Dayton, he moved to St. Marys in 1997. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He retired from AT&T in Dayton and worked for NuWave Technologies in Coldwater for 15 years.

He was a member of the American Legion in Englewood for 41 years, the South Shore Sportsman’s Club in St. Marys and loyal member of order of the Moose 1473 in Celina.

He loved fishing and taught his grandsons how to crappie fish. He loved bowling, boating and his dogs. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel, 648 Watervliet Ave., Dayton, with a memorial service to follow.

For all of his St. Marys friends, co-workers and family, there will be a celebration of his life from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the South Shore Sportsman’s Club, 5380 Club Island Road, Celina.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grand Lake Hospice in St. Marys or to Animal Protection League of Mercer County, P.O. Box 663, Celina, Ohio, 45822.
