David J. “SPC” Meiring, 57

David J. “SPC” Meiring, 57, of 69 N. Main St., Minster, died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

He was born on Aug. 18, 1954, in Coldwater, to Roland “Mort” and Delores (Vehorn) Meiring, and his father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Minster.

He is also survived by his loving partner, Cindy Reisinger of Minster; his siblings, Marge Meiring of Minster, Lynn (Jerry) Bergman of Minster and Jim (Vicki) Meiring of Minster; his nieces and nephews, Dan, Dave, Doug and Dustin Bergman, Brett and Taylor Meiring; Cindy’s children, Chad and Lois and Dusty and Brit Reisinger; Cindy’s grandchildren, Brodey, Devin, Jayden and Carter.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Sons of the American Legion and The Orphan Society at St. Augustine Church, and he sponsored children through “A Child’s Fund.” He was employed at Minster Machine Company for 40 years. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster. 

The family requests donations be made to the Food for the Poor through St. Augustine Church.
