ST. MARYS — The cause of a structure fire Friday night remains under investigation.
At approximately 9:48 p.m. Friday, the St. Marys Fire Department received a phone call reporting a structure fire at 717 E. Spring St. Crews arrived on the scene and found heavy smoke coming from the structure.
"It was in a second-story bedroom," St. Marys Firefighter/Paramedic Andy Fischbach told The Evening Leader. "They made entry through the front door and wrapped around up the stairs to the seam of the fire."
Fischbach said crews quickly knocked down the fire. He said there were occupants inside at the time of the fire, and all made it out safely. No one was injured.
Fischbach said the estimated losses are $30,000 for the structure and $10,000 for the contents. The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Crews cleared the scene at 11:54 p.m. Friday. Two trucks and six city firefighters were on the scene and St. Marys Township provided four trucks and 16 firefighters in mutual aid.
According to the auditor's website, the property is owned by St. Marys Rentals LLC.
